Farming

Bob and Karen Mueller have dedicated 40 years to establishing McKenzie-Mueller Vineyards and Winery. Their first vineyard, planted in 1978 in the Oak Knoll AVA, was home to roughly 4 acres of their Cabernet Franc [and eventually] their Cabernet Sauvignon & Sauvignon Blanc. In 1986 they found a site in the Los Carneros AVA of Napa Valley. At this site, they hoped to establish additional vines as well as a small winery and in 1988 planting began. This continued for the next 30 years based on what they could afford. Today Bob, Karen, and their extraordinary crew farm 45 planted acres of vineyard.

Clones & Rootstocks:

Bob Mueller had the great fortune of making wine with grapes from some of the most historically significant vineyards in the Napa Valley. To begin cultivating his own vineyards, Bob obtained clippings from some of these vineyards--With permission, of course! Today, McKenzie-Mueller Vineyards proudly contain many "heritage clones" or "suitcase clones" that sparked Bob's unending love for wine growing.

About the Vineyards:

Oak Knoll AVA  | 8 Planted Acres
4 Planted acres of Cabernet Franc, 4 planted acres of Cabernet Sauvignon-

Los Carneros AVA, Napa Valley | 37 Planted Acres

Currently Planted: Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, & Chardonnay-

5-10 degrees cooler than Oak Knoll during the summer with steady breezes that push through as the tides change.

Grapes from this vineyard make wines that provide a delicately inviting mouthfeel. With help from bay's breeze, fruit sustains naturally bright acidity and depth of color.

Coming Soon:
